West Coast

Our Greymouth Accommodation is the Perfect Base for Your Travels.

Rapahoe Bay is located 11 kms north of Greymouth on the Coast Road to Westport, a journey named by The Lonely Planet as one of the Ten Best Drives in the World. This ten-minute drive from our NZ camping ground will take you to the Greymouth town centre, home to many shops and activities including historical tours, cave rafting and quad bike tours.

While you’re on the West Coast, make sure you visit some of the many local attractions including…

The Shantytown Heritage Park – Explore the history and stories of real New Zealanders at this recreated gold-rush village just 10kms from Greymouth.

Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowholes – A must-see while touring the West Coast. While visiting these natural wonders, explore the Paparoa National Park with its native rainforest and mountain tops, rugged beaches and coastlines. Punakaiki is only 20minutes drive (about 20 minutes away)

Lake Brunner – As the largest lake in the northwestern side of the South Island, Lake Brunner and its main settlement Moana is a holiday destination in itself. Known for its spectacular views and trout fishing, Lake Brunner is just 31 km southeast of Greymouth and a great day-trip during your stay.

Hokitika – Known for its annual Wild Foods Festival, Hokitika is also home to activities like whitebaiting, fishing, bush walks, kayaking, gold panning, scenic flights and the West Coast Historical Museum.

Westport – The port of Westport offers hiking trails, sights like the Cape Foulwind Seal Colony, and historical landmarks like Charleston, a former gold mining township.

The Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers – The popular Fox and Franz Josef glaciers are slow-moving, massive rivers of ice. Located between Greymouth and the Milford Sound, they are a must-see sightseeing attraction when travelling to the West Coast.
